ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for Business Development Managers in Nairobi. As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for building our Business Development function from the ground up.
You will develop a strategy for securing accounts with employer partners that want to hire our talent. This is a role at the intersection of marketing, sales and business development. You will own the end-to-end sales funnel from prospecting to closing, create our strategy to drive revenue from companies, set up all the local systems and processes and build the team.
More specifically, as the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for:
Business Development: identify key employer accounts, develop and implement outreach strategies, test and optimize channel usage, devise strategies to convert prospects into leads, develop relationships with clients, manage the full end to end sales funnel, and drive accountability for sales targets
Marketing Strategy: collaborate with local marketing team to develop strategies to build our brand among employers (ads, partnerships, events). Set clear objectives and goals, define target audiences, optimize spend and track performance. Localize our global strategy to adapt to the needs and behaviors of local employer prospects
Analytics & Reporting: understand and leverage enterprise sales and marketing technology such as InfusionSoft. Track and analyze key metrics and draw insights to figure out scalable sales channels and execute on these to grow the business
Build the team: define key processes and systems, hire, grow and train the team, establish key sales incentive schemes (e.g. sales quotas).
Collaborate with key stakeholders: work with the central sales and business development teams to devise your strategy, and forecast, track and evaluate your goals. Establish strong a feedback loop with the product and marketing teams to share relevant customer insights that can inform their decisions

REQUIREMENTS:
Must-Have
A bachelor’s degree or post secondary school certificate
5-6 years of experience in (for profit) B2B business development
Built teams from the ground up or has demonstrated ability to work under uncertainty and bring structure in chaos
Proactivity, resourcefulness and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible, and entrepreneurial environment. Ability to work independently
Excellent communication and presentation skills: you can effectively articulate and communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing
Accuracy and attention to detail: you pay close attention to all of the small particulars when working on a task or project
Interpersonal skills: you have a collaborative mindset and can work well with others
Relationship management skills: you can maintain an ongoing level of engagement with stakeholders at all levels
Should-Have
Extensive network in the business community
Experience in the recruitment, staffing or talent placement industries
Strong analytical skills: ability to build and generate reports from marketing automation platforms and distill insights to drive strategy. We make data-driven decisions and expect high degree of comfort with numbers
Experience and/or passion for new technologies and for closing the digital skills gap in the continent (and creating work opportunities for African youth in doing so!)
Nice-to-Have
